Born in
Taranaki, New Zealand, Paula grew up with a strong influence of the
local culture. Her studies were directed toward the arts. Due to the
untimely death of her father at an early age she did not pursue
advanced education but instead moved to the Marlborough Sounds in the
South Island of New Zealand where she used her artistic talents to
build her own house among her other artistic achievments.
Travels led her to the US and then to Mexico where she lived
on the
small island of Holbox off the coast of the Yucatan for three years. In
her travels she discovered the silver capital of the world: Taxco,
Mexico. There she became involved with the local artists and the
fabulous sterling silver. Upon her return to New Zealand she began to
design and create the sterling silver now being worn by many people
throughout New Zealand and the world. She has had pieces worn to the
Academy Awards and by several well known New Zealand personalities.
She supplies her designs internationally and to over 85 top galleries
and Museums in New Zealand.
In July 2003 She an her husband Ron decided to live the
gypsy
life.
They have purchased and are now on the road full-time living and
working from a 7 metre Hino
Rainbow converted bus. (check it out!)
